Refund Policy
Last updated: 15 May 2026
A legal disclaimer
This Refund Policy applies to residential electrical services provided by Fitz the Sparky.
Fitz the Sparky is committed to providing electrical services with care, skill, clear communication and safe workmanship.
Refund Policy
1. Service-Based Work
Fitz the Sparky provides service-based electrical work. This may include labour, diagnosis, attendance, repairs, maintenance, installation, replacement, upgrades, testing and other electrical services.
Because electrical work involves labour, time, materials, travel, diagnosis and site-specific conditions, refunds are assessed based on the nature of the work completed, the agreed scope, the circumstances of the concern and any rights under Australian Consumer Law.
2. Australian Consumer Law
Nothing in this Refund Policy excludes, restricts or modifies any rights or remedies you may have under Australian Consumer Law.
If a service does not meet the consumer guarantees under Australian Consumer Law, you may be entitled to a remedy. Depending on the circumstances, this may include repair, re-supply of services, refund, cancellation or another appropriate remedy.
3. Change of Mind
Refunds are not generally provided for change of mind once work has been completed, materials have been supplied, time has been allocated, or services have been performed as agreed.
This includes situations where a customer changes their preference after the work has been completed, provided the service was carried out in accordance with the agreed scope and applicable requirements.
4. Completed Work
Where electrical work has been completed as agreed, refunds are not generally available unless required by Australian Consumer Law or another applicable legal obligation.
If a customer has concerns about completed work, Fitz the Sparky should be contacted as soon as possible so the matter can be reviewed.
5. Workmanship Concerns
If there is a concern with workmanship, communication, scope, materials or the completed service, customers should contact Fitz the Sparky promptly with details of the issue.
Where appropriate, Fitz the Sparky may review the concern and offer a reasonable remedy, which may include:
-
clarification of the work completed;
-
further inspection;
-
correction of work;
-
re-attendance;
-
replacement of a faulty item where applicable;
-
partial refund;
-
full refund where required by law;
-
another reasonable solution based on the circumstances.
6. Faults Outside the Original Scope
Electrical systems can contain hidden, pre-existing, unsafe or non-compliant issues that may not be visible until inspection, testing or work begins.
A refund will not generally be provided where the concern relates to a separate issue, pre-existing condition, hidden defect, unrelated fault or additional work outside the original agreed scope.
Where additional work is required, Fitz the Sparky will explain the issue and provide options where practical.
7. Materials and Special Orders
Materials purchased, supplied or specially ordered for a customer’s job may not be refundable once ordered, installed or used, unless required by Australian Consumer Law or the supplier’s warranty obligations.
Faulty materials will be reviewed according to the circumstances, supplier warranty terms and any applicable consumer guarantees.
8. Deposits and Booking Fees
If a deposit, booking fee or upfront payment is required, the terms of that payment will be explained before payment is made where practical.
Deposits may be used to secure time, order materials or prepare for the work.
Refundability of deposits will depend on the circumstances, including notice given, materials ordered, time allocated, work already performed and any applicable legal obligations.
